The parent company of NCL America, NCl Corp, said The Pride of Hawaii will spend the summer of 2008 sailing in Europe instead of on its Hawaii interisland itinerary. The Norwegian Jade will be the new name of the Pride of Hawaii when it is reflagged and deployed to Europe

The vessel will be reflagged into the Bahamas registry during a wetdock in Honolulu in February, where the ship will be fitted with a casino and new hull artwork."

NCL Corp. CEO Colin Veitch said the redeployment was temporary.

The Pride of Hawaii is one of three NCL America ships sailing in Hawaii waters under a U.S. flag, which enables the ships to make calls in the Hawaiian Islands without stopping in a foreign port during the itinerary.

Virgin CEO Richard Branson spoke at a press conference in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on Wednesday. The airline announced that it is ordering 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners which are capable of flying for long distances nonstop. Airline officials say the airplanes will go into service around 2011 and that there is a possibility of a London-Honolulu route.

A $55 million room renovation has been completed at the Sheraton Waikiki. The hotel is marketing it with the launch of the "Discover Aloha Experience." The program is part of a brand repositioning for a number of Starwood properties in Hawaii. This program takes aim at enhancing the guest experience with activities like daily cultural classes in the lobby, retail areas featuring products made in Hawaii, and poolside "dive-in" movies.

The Wyland Waikiki, originally slated to be managed by Hilton under the Doubletree brand, will instead be managed by Outrigger Enterprises. The 400-plus-unit property is set to reopen this month following a multimillion dollar remodel. The Wyland Waikiki will operate as its own brand within the Outrigger portfolio. The hotel offers a central, off-beach location, with many rooms including a microwave and sink.

The Big Island property Kona Village Resort has been purchased by a joint-venture of Rockpoint Group and MSD Capital,
a private investment firm for Michael Dell and family. Ty Warner Hotel and Resorts, the previous owner, will retain
an interest in the property. In June 2006, MSD Capital and Rockpoint Group purchased the Hualalai Resort which is
adjacent to The Kona Village Resort. According to joint venture officials, the two properties will continued to be
managed separtely, with plans to upgrade the Kona Village Resort.
